What is a Conservatorship?

We offer conservatorship services at Chatuge Elder Law. Here are some facts about conservatorships:

Fact: A conservatorship is less restrictive than a guardianship.

  • A conservatorship arrangement grants the conservator jurisdiction over the conservatee's financial matters, but not over their personal affairs.

Fact: The same duties that apply to guardianships apply to conservatorships.

  • As a conservator, you will be responsible, among other things, for:

  • Acting in the wards best interest.

  • Protecting, maintaining, and educating the ward.

  • Acting above suspicion to ensure ward receives proper judgement.

  • Presenting undivided loyalty to the ward.

  • Failure to do so can result in significant consequences.
